CONCEPT :
Inspired by centuries of artistic exchange across Persia, Afghanistan, and India, this design celebrates the beauty of cultures that have long influenced one another through art, trade, music, and faith.
Pomegranates, the national fruit of Iran and one of my favorite fruits, symbolize abundance, life, and renewal throughout the Middle East and South Asia. Delicate floral motifs reference the intricate gardens and miniature paintings of Persia, while peacock feathers represent wisdom, beauty, and divine knowledge in Hinduism. They are also traditionally used as bookmarks for the Holy Qur'an in Iran and Afghanistan, quietly reflecting a shared artistic heritage that transcends religious boundaries.
Drawing upon my background in museum design, textile design, and interfaith work, this pattern transforms these interconnected histories into a contemporary textile that invites curiosity, appreciation, and conversation.
