Sex, Love, Intimacy, & that Book Kama Sutra (Yes it's a religious HINDU scripture)

Ancient Hindu society before the influences of western Faiths, Puritanism, and Colonizations was very free-thinking and progressive. The western world has managed to dumb down ancient texts such as the Kama Sutra to just a “sex position manual”, brand Eastern religions/faiths as vulgar/obscene, and this needs to stop. I had the honor of presenting at the Museum of Sex in NYC about Hinduism, Love, and the Kama Sutra.

WHY DO SO MANY INDIAN AMERICANS GROW UP WITH SELF-HATRED, MAKING FUN OF HINDU RITUALS / PRACTICES, DEITIES, INDIAN ACCENTS, FOOD, DRESS ETC. & CONFUSE BEING “INDIAN” (WHICH IS A NATIONALITY/RACE) WITH BEING A HINDU (A FAITH THAT ANY PERSON OF ANY NATIONALITY/RACE CAN PRACTICE) ???

A Muslim Musician wrote a MANTRAM!

A mantram can be repetitive (but doesn’t have to be) and is used for meditation, prayer, and maybe even to set your intentions/goals. For me, Alam Khan’s album Mantram is a true spiritual/religious experience. I LOVE every single track and I am in tears by the end of it, but happy tears because I’ve seen my beloved Lord. It reminds us that no matter how much crap and emotional turmoil we’ve all gone through in life, HOPE & LOVE is what wins at the end.

Vincent Van Gogh - A Personal Hero of Mine - Digital Vs. an Artist's Hands/Strokes

One of my favorite artists, his life story and work have always fascinated and inspired me.

I had to design a 50 piece product design collection based on Van Gogh’s “Irises” & “Roses” beating out 200+ candidates to become the Head Designer for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I did not eat or sleep for nearly a month while designing this collection because I wanted the position so badly. I thoroughly researched Van Gogh’s life, his paintings, his techniques, etc. Needless to say, I was “Goghed” out! But I learned so much through my research and appreciated this wonderful artist’s work!

I often wonder why the world dismisses artists as “freaks” “mentally unstable” “depressed” “crazy” (insert other derogatory labels here “ etc. Yet the world needs artists to entertain and bring beauty into the world! I wish the world would be more sympathetic and understanding towards artists and understand that sometimes to create beauty they suffer silently within themselves…..

All Indian Classical Music and Dance traditions are rooted in worship and are ways to connect to the divine. The father of Hindustani music was a Muslim, the 13th C Sufi poet/musician/scholar Amir Khusrow. The father of Carnatic music was a Hindu, the 16th C saint/poet Purandara Dasa.
